please help!!!driveshaft issue
i have a 77 630csi and i had to get a new driveshaft for it and flex joint got the drive shaft from bavarian auto recyclers it had a new center bearing and has been reconditioned. the problem i am havin is its coming up a inch short in the rear so i cant bolt it up to the diff. i have tried sliding the centerbearin bolts and they are set in place and will not give me any room. i also saw that there is threads on the shaft after the center bearing going to the diff but when i spin the ring around the threads it does nothing
This is gonna take some looking. Have you had a look at the realoem.com diagrams of the drive shaft and the center bearing in the diff? maybe those threads are stripped?

that reloem site is pretty sweet but i didnt see anyhting that was helpful. my problem is im comin up an inch short. like i have the shaft connected to the trans and the center bearing mounted. so i was thinking something might need to be adjusted or maybe the driveshaft they sent me is too short or something

Driveshafts are 2 pieces splined together in the middle, sometimes the splines get pushed together, in your case or pulled appart so the driveshaft becomes to long.
With the center bearing loose try just pulling towards the rear, if it doesnt budge, wd40 it and give it a few wacks with a hammer, just dont mar it all up.

yup that was it i loosened the nut and i pulled it back didnt even need to hit with a hammer. thanx anitburn. now the sub frame where the driveshaft passes through before the diff is rubbing the driveshaft. i think the previous owner bumped it just enough to bend it to do that so now im just going to grind it down alittle bit and should be fine. ill get some pics up soon.
