First off, you probably know that your video card shares the same memory, so you won't ever have the full 512MB available. When you hit ctrl-alt-del, go to the Processes tab to see what is actually running, and what's wierd in there that shouldn't be there, or what processes you could do without running all the time. Use the Run command to start "services.msc", and see what unnecessary shit you can disable. BlackViper
can help explain what the different services do. Torque's advice is great too. And check your power management settings to see if you have them set to run the CPU at reduced speed; many laptops do this by default. Finally, defrag your hard drive, and also test
your memory to make sure you're not running a bad stick. Hope this helps.
