Power steeringwheel position adjustment
1995 525i I've checked all the fuzes and the fault's not there. I can not move the wheel in or out and is stuck in the full in position. Can this be moved manually? Last edited by mjd420nova; 03-21-2013 at 01:54 PM.. |

Their should be a lever underneath the wheel that releases the wheel enabling it to tilt. At least on my E36 anyway.

This is the power adjustment for the telescopic steering wheel. No tilt, just in and out. The control is a shorter stick below the turn sig/hi/lo beam stick. |

If you have a multi meter i would remove the portion covering the bottom of the wheel and test for power.

I'm getting a clicking noise (relay) behind the housing cover on an "extend" action with the switch but nothing on withdraw. If there's a mechanism behind the cover, can it be moved mechanically by advancing the motor by hand. I just need to extend the wheel two inches so the wife can drive it. |

Ive never heard of anyone actually mechanically moving it. I would test that relay though, and if its bad then replacing it should solve the problem.
