Torque converter / 2002 530i

Hi
Just joined the group
Recently purchase 2002 530i with 58 k miles and guess what? Yep...Check engine light / torque converter issues
No slipage Runs like a clock
Changed the "never have to change" fluid It was awful looking
Light went out after reset and low and behold it came back on three days later
There are posts all over the place about this problem but I have seen where someone with the same set of circumstances hard booted the computer and it cleared out all the error messages and the light hasn't come back on since
That sounds reasonable but is there anyone out there who can verify that theory?
Would love to hear some good news before I go setting everything
Thanks
Captbobby

I bought a 2002 530i a year and 1/2 ago a few moth ago I started to have the following problem: when I am driving and I go in a curvy road or up a hill or down my trans with go on safe mode immediately and shift down to 4 gear, if I stop and shut the car off and remove the key it will go back to normal 'till the next hill or curve, unless i get to it very slow. I am thinking of some kind of sensor or something loosed some where that's telling the computer that it need fluid or something like that, I checked the fluid and seem to be full and as a matter of fact I changed the fluid but still the same problem, some times I feel it sort of bucking some what as well....but not sleeping at all.
Please fellows throw me a bone on this one.
Millage is 142k and the car is immaculate inside and out.
Steven
