5-SeriesGeneral discussion and technical help for 5-series BMWs.
I have a '92 525i and I recently replaced the battery. Well, of course, the deck deactivated and I need a code to set it right. I don't have the owner's manual, but I think the deck is factory (it's a BMW stereo with CD changer).
Does anyone know of a way to retrieve this code or bypass it? I really don't want to have to buy and install a new deck...

You can go i think to a local bmw dealership with your vin and ask for it, i don't know if there is a charge for it or not, but they should be able to retrieve it, then write it down somewhere safe, anytime you disconnect or replace your battery your codes will erase on your factory stereo, it's anti theft measure.

You need to remove the radio. To remove it you need a 5-sided tool for the task. On the back there's the serial number stamped to a small plate, then call the dealership so they can give you the radio code.
