Apparantly my installer is telling me that the manual seats I got from a 1998 E36 sedan cannot be install in a pre 1997 E36 sedan-which is my car. He also said he didn't remember why.

Did BMW change something in the seats in the E36 in the year 1997. I can understand electric powered seats being wired differently as the years changed but simple manual powered seats should be the same for all years of the E36.

Am I right?
