Okay, I just did the fan delete mod today, along with a new water pump, coolant expansion tank, upper & lower radiator hoses, and an aluminum thermostat housing. And oh yea, I changed my oil, too. What a busy day, I'm soooo beat.

Believe it or not, the hardest part was the water pump . . the new o ring was so tight, it took me a good 20min to get the pump in. Not to mention that I didn't really need to replace it, since the old one turned out to have a metal impeller. But I figured I better do it anyway. Then I broke off the engine lift bolt attached to the thermostat housing. It was so corroded it wouldn't come out, and it finally snapped. Luckily the other 3 bolts were good enough to hold the housing in without leakage. Aside from that, everything else went pretty smoothly. By the way, all the writeups I've read were correct- when that engine drain plug comes off, the coolant goes EVERYWHERE!!

On the subject of increased HP and/or torque, I don't notice it. What I do notice is the engine runs a lot smoother and more solid than with the fan on, particularly with the A/C on. So there you have it, from me at least. Anyone need a couple of buckets of old oil and coolant?
