I think that we all pay somewhere around the same price for gas in most of the world. It is the size of the TIP/tax we pass on to the government that makes gas in Europe, Australia and NZ so expensive.

When I was living in Italy in the late '60's we were paying about 30 cents a gallon for Taxless gas. The locals were paying about $2.30

The $2 difference was all tax. Some taxes they were paying started before WW2!!
