Your all missing the point that it was based on a book.. the ending was used because they had to follow the basic plot of the book.
I thought it was a pretty sick movie... it was also a shitload better if youve played half life 2..

Thank GOD someone else notices. The scene where they take down the huge walkers with rockets is totally half life 2....as well as the scene where Tom Cruise walks out of the house and the land is all red....it was just SCREAMING HL2. Jesus I'm gonna play that game right now.
