Reason #4815162342 why BMW dealerships SUCK! Trying 2 rape me again!
So about 2 months ago my car's hood was dented and had paint-scraped off in a park&run, after an SUV apparantly with a tire hanging off the rear door backed into my car.
My "buddy" at the BMW dealership collision center told me "$400 to replace and repaint the hood." (this is an older guy who runs the shop and has befriended me since january-my last accident with the bus)
Anyway I cried at first but still I saved up during 3-4 weeks and about a day before taking my car into them to get the hood fixed a woman in an Land Rover Discover happens to smash into my driver's side door and fender.
So it was back to the BMW collision center and my "buddy" told me It would be about $1400 to replace and repaint the fender and door, and also paint blend the hood and entire driver's side of the car to match up the new panels. I assume by "paint hood" meant repair and paint the entire hood.
Also my sideskirts would be matched up this time in the deal.
Boy was I happy...and was I even more happy when I got my check from the Insurance company last saturday...
it was good news and smiles all the way to the BMW collision center this morning....until I got a rude surprise..
...The dealership looked over the Insurance Adjuster's estimate of the damages and realized that replacing or repairing my damaged hood was not listed in the repairs. It only said paint over the entire hood to blend with the new fender.
Even though the Adjuster's estimated total and the check i got from them) evenly matched BMW's $1400 estimate my "buddy" at the dealership said that they are now gonna charge me to $400 extra to replace my dented hood...he said they simply can't hammer out the dent and repaint it...they can only replace the entire hood and paint the new hood to match the fender.
Of course the hood was not ever reported being damaged in the accident (how could it...it's almost on the otherside of the car) so, naturally, my Insurance people told me in these exact words "Fine, go ahead and have them replace and repaint your hood...but your ass will be paying for it not us! Have a good day!"
Even though i begged my pal at the dealership to cut me a break he said they are not gonna paint the dented section...
After thinking it thru the dealership SOBs (my "buddy" included) finally agreed the only way to do it is to paint around the dent and scratched area on the hood since the insurance company is so adamant on repainting the hood unless I pay $400 then, he said, it'll be easier on everyone and better for my car.
I was so mad....when he said "better for my car, better for everyone..." I was like not better for me because that is my "summer vacation" savings...
I told him...no WAY am I going to pay for something he said he was going to do in the first place...
After this fiascal I'd rather give my money and the work of fixing my hood to someone else . I'm so tired of the dealership raping me.....
I was vexed all day...
So now I'm going to get my car back in about 8 days with money and labour-time literarally wasted on painting over a damaged hood when it takes the lazy SOBs about 30 minutes to un-dent & straigthen it before painting it.
I swear BMW's Nazi-stubborn policies drive me up the wall sometimes...
what do ya'll think?
I needed to vent!
