if it fires 223 then its a mini 14, though the same in design, caliber does matter
where as a TRUE civilian M-14 would be Mini 30, or M1A
from the look of it, its an early ruger, non ranch version.

actually the ar-15 was born from this gun... could shoot underwater.. this gun is amazing.. anyways, it's just a fun gun to shoot if anyone ever gets a chance.. I also have an AR-15 too and I like this one better personally"
the stoner design is in no way related to the garand design. i dont understand where you could have thought that.
the M-14 actualy was put up against an early stoner design ( the AR10) right before it was adopted.but the AR10's barrel ruptured ( armalite suspected mis treatment). and the government chose the M14
the M-14, though a great gun was quickly showing its age. not as powerfull as its older brother the M1 garand, not as quick as its replacement the M-16 . the M-14 was all but useless in full automatic mode, as barrel climb would render it in accurate.
