Unhappy E30 Driver Door Electrical Connector

I had the drivers door on my '90 325i replaced from an accident last year and now the electrical connector from the '88 salvage door has an intermittent electrical contact with the body connector. The short makes it difficult to open the gas cap at times and I'm looking for tips on how to fix this issue. Are these door wiring harnesses interchangeable?

Does anyone know how to remove the connector from the body so I can spray some contact cleaner into the connector halves? Can't seem to pull out the plug. Is it bolted together or just tabs?

I'm also looking for a new instrument cluster if any know of a good working unit.
