I bought the car a few months ago with 140k mi on it, and I've been plagued with a squeaking / creaking sound coming from the driver's side rear wheel well. I've looked under there a million times, and can't figure out what it is. The subframe mounts are fine, the RTAB looks okay (although I just bought new ones and will replace anyway), the RSM's & shocks were just replaced 2wks ago, along with an e-brake adjustment.
Then it dawned on me that since the noise occurs mostly when I turn right (like when the spring gets loaded), it could be a weak spring, or maybe the spring pads are worn. When I replaced the shocks, I tried to save time by leaving the wheels on, so I never got a good look at the springs. So I won't know till I lift the rear tomorrow and take off the wheel, but do you think I'm finally on the right track?
I've seen spring upgrades where the drop in height is minimal (1 to 1.5 inches), but I feel like I need all the travel I can get. My town sucks so bad that it's rare to see a 100ft stretch of road that doesn't have a bump, crack, dip or pothole- people wander around these things so as not to bottom out, and all the city does is turn the holes into big mounds of asphalt, which isn't any better.
