The best 'band aide' that I have found for filling in imperfections on the clear coat is 3M Hand Glaze. It is not magic, but it is pretty good. For some reason, jerks think that the reason my wife parks her red 330 at the shopping center is to serve as a bench to hold their packages while they unlock their doors - and they slide their heavy packages on and off the hood and trunk lid, scratching the clear coat.
