The PLX gauges look good but I have no experience with them. My 323i has a VDO cluster wired in and although unlike the PLX system, it requires parallel circuits for oil temp, oil pressure and volts at least if I lose one circuit, the remaining gauges still work. In spite of all the latest techno stuff, I still think that good quality, accurate oil temp and oil pressure gauges are the best engine insurance you can get as I have seen water temp gauges fail to indicate a problem when there was a rapid coolant loss due to a burst hose (no water to measure the temperature of).
