Your car is OBD1 compliant and you should be able to read the trouble codes using this method http://www.pelicanparts.com/BMW/tech...de_Reading.htm . You will require an ADS interface and 20pin cable to conduct full diagnostics on your car and the best one I know of is made right in the USA by rv8flyboy from bimmerforums.com.
