My friends car had the same problem, same solution as ntroisi84, cramped fingers, bad lamguage and foul temper! if it looks bad on your car do it before it snaps, no matter how much work is involed. We had to destroy bits to get it open. Also if it does snap its going to be close to the release mechanism which you wont be able to get near.
