Hi all.
I've just bought myself a 1985 323i project car. Doesn't need alot doing to it but at the moment it has one really annoying engine problem. Under "normal" acceleration at the lower revs, the engine cuts out for a moment and then continues as if nothing happened. I'd describe it as a cough. It seems to be more throttle related than rev related but I'm not sure. Other than that, the engine idles OK cruises OK and pulls really smoothly all the way up to 6000rpm. Any thoughts?
FYI So far I've checked the Filter (almost new) and the Mass Air Flow Sensor. The MAFS seems to have a quirk though. In the first few millimeters of the flap movement, the measured electrical resistance drops from 95ohms to 55 ohms, then as I move the flap further, the resistance begins to rise again. I would have expected the resistance to show a continual rise right from the start. Does anyone know if this is normal?
I'd be grateful for any help that people can give.
Thanks in advance.
