Ok, do yourself a favor and forget it. By the time you buy all the stuff tear it down and do all the stuff you NEED to do to get it right (yeah there's volumes of stuff to go through....seriously) you'd be far better off buying a turbo kit, getting the necessary boost retard and turbo timer modules, following the directions and running about 6-6.5 pounds of boost. You'll get an effective compression ratio of about 12:1 and can run it on 91 octane pump gas. Not to mention you won't need to build the holy hell out of the engine. Just out of curiosity though, what's wrong with your "is" in stock form? I have an 87 and it's extremely rare that I come across something I can't beat and almost never come across anything I can't out drive, and yes it's stock.
