I have a bit of a problem with the idle speed.

It has a Manual tranny.

Basically the idle does not drop fast enough when i shift gears and it appears to be staying at whatever RPM the engine is at, stays same for approx 1 to 2 sec and then starts to drop..

I have checked the following things so far?
- cruise control, throttle cable tightness (seems OK)
- looked for vacuum leaks and, found the MAF boot being cracked in few places, but i used black electric tape and taped it really well, (there was no difference in idle problem before and after the MAF boot fix)

What could cause this?

Thanks..
check your ICV valve or MAF, they ICV may be clogged and dirty and the MAF may need to have the element cleaned.
