Little over a year ago in CT, doing 80 in a supposed 55 zone (since raised to 65), while most of the traffic was doing 70-75 anyway. Nonetheless they write you up for the amount you were going over 55, a Catch-22 or Kafka-esque situation if ever there was one. Of course, the cops completely ignore the SUVs making sudden and unsignaled lane changes, cutting in on other traffic, and the tailgaters riding your rear bumper, behaviors that are responsible for more crashes than alleged speeding. It's the "cash register justice" game they're playing, it's a lot easier for them to sit by the roadside with radar or laser in hand so they can write speeding tickets and show the revenues brought in than it is to go after the aforementioned types.
In my estimation traffic law enforcement is poorly done, and made even more so when it becomes a profit center rather than a public safety matter.
