Thanks for all your responses on my question of having the oil changed inbetween the 15,000 interval. Got it done. I am loving my 325i but I am still concerned about the Tranny fluid and the coolant. I called the Dealer Service and they told me the coolant goes 4 years and the Tranny fluid 100,000 miles.
I am 46 years old and have owned a lot of vehicles in my life but this is my first Beemer and I just cant see that Tranny fluid should not be changed until 100,000 miles. The Dealer also told me that they dont do Tranny service and that he could count on one hand the Trannys that he has seen fail. Also told me I could have it done elsewhere but the fluid cost is $50.00 per liter (cant get the fluid elsewhere)and would end up costing about $400 to $500.00. He said ( and I do believe him on this), is the reason for the long interval and no dipstick is because of the special fluid and that it was assembled in a controlled, clean environment and sealed so that you cannot add fluid, thus contaminating it.
Again I still am concerned about letting the fluid go 100,000 miles. Can someone give me some insight? I called a local Tranny service and they told me he can do it and if I got him the parts from BMW he could certify that it wouldnt void my warranty. Thanks again for all your answers.
