I have a UK (Right hand drive) 2001 X5 sport diesel which has been professionally tuned (sorry do not know by whom). I am in process of selling the car to move home to Norway, where I plan to buy a 2002-2003 X5 (so the same 184hk version). Does anyone know if a ECM from a 2001 would fit a 2002 or a 2003?
Also, how are the X5 usually chipped? Are they remapping the original chip, or are they usually installing a unit between the BMW ECM and the loom?
Where is the ECM located on my car?
