I think there's 2 mindsets working here - #1 Apple stuff & #2 "gadget addiction"
Apple makes some decent computers-pricey but good.
Then there's the gadget addiction - 1st was Ipod - everybody HAD to have 1, now it's the Iphone. Sure it's unique and it's a new generation of the phone but - the addiction is the "be the first one to have it mentality". Screw that, you can be their test pilots, I can wait. I'll save the $$$ and can find a bezillion more useful things for $500
