Amanda another good one. Too add for others on the e30 its on the drivers side under the car mine is probably about midway. Vice grips work well to plug it. I have also seen in other DIYs that you might want to disconnect the battery to be on the safe side, i know i did just so i made sure i wouldn't Blow up incase i somehow managed.
