Unfortunately a Golden ERA has to last far more than a few years.
A Golden moment maybe.
The taxation rate during that period was scaled up to the point where 98% of every dollar earned over $50,000 went for income taxes.
The only carefree people of the 60s were the hippies who could skip off to Canada and the very rich who could buy their kids out of anything. They were not sending their kids to Vietnam to get shot at like everyone else was.
BTW Our Vietnam started in the mid 50's not long after we quit playing in Korea.
The draft was a real threat to people the age of most who post here.
Yes we made great technological leaps then but they were to keep ahead of where we thought the Russians were. Technology leaps more in a month now than it did in a year then anyway.
I am still waiting for Peace in Our Lifetimes!!! Getting pretty old waiting too.
