Just got this car about a month ago--51,000 miles; driving to work last week and the little red oil can starts flickering on and off. I drove another block to get to a safe place and shut the car down and called BMW roadside rescue. They came and towed the car to the BMW dealer; they hooked it up to their computer--told them to replace the Oil Pressure Sending Unit--so that's what they did. $250 later I'm driving the car home that evening and after about 20 miles the damn light goes on again--but only when I'm braked to almost a dead stop. As soon as I step on the gas the light goes out. I called the dealer and they said to bring it by the next day so I did. Once again, they check car over, did a pressure test--all okay and the mechanic even drove it home that evening trying to duplicate the problem--finally came on//flickering after about 20 miles and then would go on and off while slowing down but upon stepping on the gas--light goes off and stays off. Dealer claims they've never seen this problem--I bought an extended warranty for the car (thank god) that kicks in this week. Can't imagine what this could be--I've read many threads--say change the wiring harness and the sending unit--another mechanic says it could be the idiot light on the dashboard--my good sense tells me maybe the oil pump? Hell--I'm a woman--I know enough to be dangerous. I was looking forward to a problem free BMW (yes, I know I'm dreaming--hell this is my 3rd BMW convertible--had 318i, 328i and now this--and all they ever did was have the Check Engine light come on--go figure, I spend lots more money and now this. I just don't want to puke the engine on the way to get it fixed. HELP!
