I would also recommend Costa Brava in Spain, I've heard it is off the chain over there. I also go with Cap on Napoli, me and the family are stopping there for a couple of days while heading to see the in-laws in July further down south (A little bit past Bari).
And yes, the Autostrada is a hell of alot better than the 'Bahn, way flatter and straighter(except for the damn tolls
)
