i have an 1989 325i and about 6 months ago it started making the same noise. its been running fine ever since but it makes that distinctive clicking noise when its running. the clicking gets faster at higher rpm too. i assumed it was the valves and never had it checked.
im going to do a valve adjustment on it due to your suggestions. but as some of you said, are you sure it makes that noise just due to wear and tear?
