Yeah, I've an '86 L7 with over 250k on the original drivetrain - no issues to speak of. As long as a car is taken care of you shouldn't have anything to worry about. Sure, there's always a chance that a tranny here and there have issues that'll bite someone in the ass due to a minor production flaw or something. Chances are small though.
