Dough, I hear your frustrations (read the rants) and am starting to question that it's been formerly "dealer maintaintained" for a couple of reasons:
#1) Dealers - warranty previous repairs and are USUALLY pretty good at spotting possible future problems
#2) Maybe yours IS the exception - there are ALOT of BMWs that run well into the 100k, 200k mileage ranges without 1/4 probs you're having.
I will agree w/you that the costs are up there, but I question that "dealer mintained" you keep reffering to. I think you have some receipts & stamps, but what's to say that previous owner passed on dealer recommendations to fix things?
