search please. its been asked thousands of times. but to humor you...these cars with regular maintenance are essentially immortal. the m50 (which you have) is just bulletproof. i have 160k on mine and have never had any engine problems what so ever. (knock on wood). ive seen e36's with up to 300k and no rebuilds. just change belts, hoses, plugs, and the other usual suspects and you are good to go. the water pump is a must as well. at 118k your engine is just getting into its prime and has a long life ahead of it. assuming that you are taking care of it, not redlining every shift, etc.
