Ah, umm... no. Currently, diesel is near or cheaper than gas. To put it more into perspective for your state:

Most expensive diesel: $3.15
Cheapest gas: $2.72
Cheapest diesel: $2.86
For my state.....
Most expensive gas: $3.51 (for regular)
Most expensive diesel: $3.19
Cheapest gas: $2.84
Cheapest diesel: $2.67
Keep in mind... normally, diesel engines are able to get much better milage than a gas engine, and, for the most part are easier to maintain.
