I use an older '98 4500 for city riding. If you're not reallly seriously into mountain biking, there's no need for hydraulic brakes . . you'll see them on the more expensive bikes, but having them for an everyday ride would be just a novelty rather than being functionally useful. Besides, they're a pain, you have to bleed them from time to time, especially if you turn the bike upside down. Watch that Judy front shock- the older units tend to leak, but I think they've since fixed the problem

right thats why I got mechanical haha. And its the newest 4900 model, so I doubt the judy's would leak. I would just take it mountain biking, and a bit of road biking.
